About Me

Hello!

My name is Jacqueline Shaver and welcome to Arbour Glen Creations and Mino Ode Beadwork!  I am so glad you are here.

I like to make beautiful useful items for myself and my home and love to share them with others.

Here are a few things about me:

I began my journey with pottery in 2019 with a local pottery studio, A Third Space.   It was so good to challenge myself with learning something new and experiment with clay.  For the last few years I have been painting my “beadwork” on my pieces and I love them.  I hope you do too!

I am a mom of three wonderful and supportive children who are now in their 20's.  I am married to my best friend and can't imagine going through life with anyone else.  I am a physiotherapist and l work with people who have had an injury to their brain and I help them move better and become more independent.

My Anishinaabe roots are important to me and I am thankful to have this heritage through my father who lived in Kettle and Stony Point in Ontario.  Having been born and raised in the Niagara Region and away from this part of my heritage, I find that the traditional art of beading connects me to my roots.  My father, my biggest fan when it came to beadwork and painting it on my pottery, passed onto the Spirit World in February 2023.  I miss him terribly and hope that every thing I do makes him proud of me

I believe in supporting small businesses that are owned by Indigenous women and purchase from them whenever possible.   I also believe in community over competition and have been able to make some wonderful friends with people in the maker movement.
